What is MADBLEND®?

MADBLEND® is a high-purity stevia extract blend from NURA formulated to deliver clean, balanced sweetness without the bitterness or aftertaste common to standard stevia ingredients. It contains Rebaudiosides A, D, and M at 95% or greater total steviol glycosides, combining the cost efficiency of Reb A with the improved taste profile of Reb D and Reb M. It is available in conventional and organic forms.

Reb A is cost-effective but produces bitterness and a lingering aftertaste, especially at higher use levels. Reb M is cleaner-tasting but has poor solubility and a high cost-in-use. MADBLEND® bridges that gap: better-tasting than Reb A, far more soluble than Reb M, and priced below both monk fruit and high-purity Reb M. In consumer testing, adults preferred MADBLEND® equally to monk fruit at a fraction of the cost, and children aged 12 and older could not distinguish it from sugar. 

MADBLEND® is approximately 250 to 300 times sweeter than sugar, placing it in the same potency range as high-purity Reb M and well above sucrose on a gram-for-gram basis. Because it is a high-intensity sweetener, only very small amounts are needed to achieve the target sweetness level in a finished formula. 

No. MADBLEND® was specifically formulated to minimize the bitterness and aftertaste that are common limitations of stevia-based sweeteners, particularly those built on Reb A alone. 

In a controlled consumer study, MADBLEND® was rated as significantly less bitter and more preferred than 95% Reb A. Adults found it comparable to monk fruit extract for overall taste quality. Its multi-rebaudioside composition, combining Reb A, Reb D, and Reb M, is what enables this improved sensory profile: the Reb D and Reb M components modulate the bitterness and linger that Reb A alone tends to produce. 

 

Can MADBLEND® be used to replace sugar in food and beverage formulations?

MADBLEND® replaces sweetness effectively, but it is not a functional 1:1 replacement for sugar. Beyond sweetness, sugar contributes bulk, texture, mouthfeel, browning, and other functional properties that a high-intensity sweetener alone cannot replicate. In most applications, MADBLEND® works best as the sweetness anchor in a broader sugar-reduction system paired with fibers, allulose, humectants, or texture-modifying ingredients. MADBLEND® is designed to deliver comparable taste performance to monk fruit at a meaningfully lower cost-in-use. In consumer studies, adults preferred MADBLEND® and monk fruit extract equally, making it a strong reformulation candidate for brands that need clean sweetness without the premium price or sourcing variability that monk fruit carries. 

MADBLEND® is suitable across food, beverage, and supplement categories where heat and pH stability matter. Its good solubility supports ready-to-mix and ready-to-drink formats. Current applications include beverages such as teas, kombuchas, waters, and juices; dairy and non-dairy products including yogurt and ice cream; snack bars, cereals, and cookies; sports nutrition; and functional supplement powders. An organic-certified version is available for USDA Organic finished products.
